My point of view about Taipei (Wheelchair consideration)

--The MRT system is wheelchair friendly.
--The weather is very EMOTIONAL and humid.
--The HST and MRT and Taiwan train system are mixed in the same building. SO... If people in wheelchairs want to take trains, they HAVE TO go to "Today's Duty Office' to buy tickets. HST is maybe more convenient but more expensive.
--The pace of Taipei is very fast .... so.... BUT people are people IF you need help just ASK. Smile first and then see what will happen. Adventures and suprises!
--Some Taxi drivers are crazy sometimes...But... the traffic in Taiwan is just Crazy... It's not big news. Remember to keep your eyes open when taking a Taxi. Enjoy it!

A project to visit Europe

2007-01-01
A project to visit Europe:
I was born and bred in Taiwan. I was born with deformed legs...I had a operation when I was 5 and it didn't give me a NORMAL walking ability. I studied and grow up with so-called normal children. What I learn most and got most is not kindness but discriminations. Too much to tell and too hurt to tell as well. When I was 21-22, I had another operation for my curved spine and I lost my walking ability since that... What I want to tell ALL of PEOPLE in Taiwan or AROUND the world is: What hurt me most is not my physical condition but people's attitudes.
I don't want to say Taiwan is a BAD place or unfriendly place. But .... in deed...Taiwanese need more EDUCATION..to wide their hearts.
To know and to learn. I wish someone like me can do something for those who use wheelchair for live. I know not only in Taiwan but also a lot other places ....people limit their mind by their sight. The only way I can enrich thier thoughts...is just to share what my experiences and my thoughts. Only themselves can change the situation. Bring knowledge into live. That's LIFE.
I am plan to pick up a place to live for at least 1 month.
Rent a house for myself and deal with my daily live on my own.
Besides....I want to know how people go on thier lives in a friendlly environment. We don't have good public system for wheelchair. No bus system for wheelchair... something like that... and it's hard to find so-called handicapped toilet in public. Yes! people usually encourage handicapped people go out..but the very basic for human beings..We don't have it so much..We can't ask it a lot here. Those who don't need it is a main group ..so they ignore it. Little voice is just too little to be heard. Right?
>>to be contune......

Why do I build this blog?

Hi!
This is Amy from Taichung, Taiwan.I want to share what I have with people around the world but didn't know how.And now I am working on a project to share my experience of student life in Feng Chia University, because most of the people on wheelchairs give up their educations and I hope to do something to encourage them to continue their education.
I am not sure what the outcome of my project will be but I am doing my best.

Project 1.

-place:FCU (Feng Chia University)

-how:

  1. Take a lot of photos of the campus, focus on the special designs for wheelchairs.
  2. Talk with handicapped students and try to get more new ideas from them.
  3. Talk with the president of FCU and to know how school help handicapped students to deal with affairs such as selecting classes....
  4. ((More ideas))

-time:2006.7.7-future

-numbers:Amy... (maybe more ... if anyone would like to collect more informations of other universities and share with me. PLZ e-mail to d8549246@mail2000.com.tw)

-goal:freedom from the known.I hope people have a chance to know and try to find their way for life.I would like to share this with people who need around the world.So... I am going to edit the blog in both English and Chinese.
I think 'share' is the most beautiful verb around the world.

-opinions:Most of time people think they are the only one to have tough time. well... we can see what we don't have or what we are having now. It depends your attitudes. Different attitudes lead to different future.right? If you agree with this, then think of WHAT YOU WANT!

-my story:I had an unsucceful sugry in my back and hurt my nervous system. That's why I have to go on my life with wheelchair. I learn something from it and know a lot from people's attutides.

blessings :)

Enjoy your life!
